The 23rd – 27th September marks International Week of Happiness at Work, a global initiative designed to highlight the importance of work happiness and positive work culture on overall wellbeing. We all spend a large part of our lives at work, so it’s no surprise that this has a significant impact on the rest of our lives.
The campaign reminds us that we are all responsible for happiness in the workplace. It serves as a reminder for both individuals and organisations that investment in daily positive behaviours in the workplace supports a happier and more productive workforce and individually can bring improved health, increased teamwork and more success.
Of course, happiness in the workplace stems from a wide variety of areas and cannot be transformed overnight but this event highlights how small steps support long term transformation. Some ideas include organising a happiness at work breakfast, creating a ‘happiness at work moments’ wall, starting the day with a challenge (e.g. planking) or encouraging bringing in homemade snacks for colleagues to share.
